Well-known cinematographer Binod Pradhan, popular for his work in films such as "Rang De Basanti" and "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag", will be making his Malayalam debut with upcoming film "Kayamkulam Kochunni", based on the life of Kerala's most dreaded thief.

To be directed by Roshan Andrrews, the film stars Nivin Pauly as Kochunni, popularly known as Kerala's Robin Hood in the 1990s.

"The principal shooting starts from next month in Udupi. Binod Pradhan will crank the camera. The rest of the technical crew is in the process of being finalised," a source from the film's unit told IANS.

Amala Paul and debutante Priyanka are playing the female leads.

"Amala's character played a pivotal role in Kochunni's life. She doesn't play his love interest but is remembered for her contribution," the source said.

On the career front, Nivin currently awaits the release of his Tamil film "Richie" and Malayalam film "Hey Jude".

He is also set to commence work on another Malayalam film called "Kairali", based on the disappearance of Kerala's biggest cargo ship.
