Accusing the BJP of mismanaging the volatile situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Saturday said that it wanted Kashmir without the Kashmiris, while his party wanted to win over the people too along with the state.

"As far as the Congress party is concerned, we believe that peace has to be restored. The difference between the stand of the BJP and Congress, is that while Congress wants Kashmir along with the Kashmiri people, the BJP wants Kashmir without Kashmiri people. How can you have Kashmir without Kashmiri people?" he said at a press conference at the Congress' state headquarters here.

Singh said that the camaraderie between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had failed and said that Pakistan was showing its true colours with the recent spate of violence in Kashmir.

"Pakistan is showing its true colour now. The camaraderie which was was projected between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart stands exposed with the Pakistan goverment even holding black day in support of a terrorist in Kashmir," he said.
