CAS rejects Muller's appeal against swimming marathon disqualification

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected the appeal of French swimmer Aurelie Muller who was disqualified from the 10 kilometre open water race at the Rio Olympics, it said in a statement.
"The ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 rejected the appeal of the French swimmer Aurelie Muller who challenged her disqualification from the 10km-race by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) on 15 August 2016, following an incident at the end of the race," CAS said in a Friday release, reports Sputnik.
Muller finished second in the 10km race, but was disqualified as she came into physical contact with Italy's Rachele Bruni, pushing her under the water and going over her.
Sharon van Rouwendaal of the Netherlands took the gold, the silver went to Bruni and Brazil's Poliana Okimoto took the bronze.
