Central team assessing Odisha cyclone damage concludes visit

An eight-member central team, which assessed the damage caused by cyclonic storm Hudhud in the southern districts of Odisha, concluded its two-day visit Wednesday, an official said here.

After concluding the visit, the team led by Gopal Krishna, joint secretary, union home ministry, met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and discussed the loss and damage caused by Hudhud Oct 12.

According to a press release from the chief minister's office, the team will submit the report to the home ministry in seven days.

The team visited various places in the southern districts of the state and assessed the cyclone damage. They also interacted with local people.

 

Even though the Odisha government has submitted a memorandum to the Centre seeking central assistance of Rs. 712 crore for rehabilitation and restoration work in the affected districts, the Centre is yet to release any money.
