Actor Charandeep, who is known for his work in southern films such as "Jilla" and "Pataas", will be playing the main antagonist in Puri Jagannadh's upcoming Telugu film "Loafer".

"'Loafer' was the best birthday gift ever. I've always been looking forward to work with Puri sir. When he asked me to keep myself available a few months ago, I was so excited that I decided to forego few projects and wait for his offer," Charandeep told IANS.

The actor will lock horns with Varun Tej in the film, which is currently being shot at Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

"We've already completed the first schedule. I shot for two days and I'll be joining the Jodhpur schedule shortly," he said.

Asked about working with Puri, he said: "He's easily the most laid back director I've worked with. It's so much fun on sets with him."

Charandeep is also part of Pawan Kalyan-starrer "Gabbar Singh 2", which has now been rechristened "Sardar".

"Although I can't divulge details about my role in the film, I can confirm that I've signed the project. I'm looking forward to join the sets soon," he said.

Marathi actor Sharad Kelkar plays the main villain in "Sardar", which is being directed by Bobby.
