US-based global technology company Cisco on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jharkhand government to enhance the information technology skills of students in engineering colleges and polytechnics across the state.

The MoU was signed by Ajoy Kumar Singh, Secretary in Jharkhand's Department of Higher and Technical Education, and Dinesh Malkani, President, Cisco India and SAARC.

The partnership will focus on developing skills required for the new digital economy by providing them with the required technical knowledge through the Cisco Networking Academy Programme.

Cisco will set up 15 networking academies in the state that will train up to 6,000 students by 2020.
