At least nine people were killed due to an intense cold wave in Nepal's Terai region, authorities said.

Six people died of freezing cold in Saptari district and three in Rautahat district, Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday.

The cold wave has badly affected daily lives, halting regular activities including closure of the educational institutions.
