The External Affairs Ministry said on Friday the central government was committed to bringing liquor baron Vijay Mallya back in India to face justice.

"The government is committed to bringing Vijay Mallya back to face justice. We are considering steps for Mallya's deportation," foreign ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup told the media here.

He said Mallya had responded to show cause notice and the government was consulting legal experts on the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) request for the deportation of Mallya, who owns more than Rs.9,000 crore of various Indian banks.
