Congress the most communal party: BJP

Party alleged that Congress has been dividing people to get votes

IANS New Delhi

Terming the Congress the most communal party in India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday alleged it has been dividing people to get votes.

"If there is any party which has been communal in last 50 years, it is Congress. They have been dividing people for votes," said BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman, following Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind leader Mehmood Madani's attack on the "secular parties".

"We treat all communities at par. Our agenda is development, which will reach all communities equally," she said.

Madani, in a veiled reference to BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, said the secular parties should not seek votes "by showing fear of someone, on a negative plank".

Without naming any party, he said the secular parties should tell how many promises in their manifesto have been fulfilled.
