The Delhi High Court Friday asked the e-rickshaw association and owners to approach appropriate authority for releasing of their impounded e-rickshaws while refusing to entertain their plea.

A division bench of Justice B.D. Ahmed and Justice Siddharth Mridul asked the battery operated e-rickshaw owners to approach the appropriate forum after which the central government withdrew the application.

The ministry of road transport and highways moved an application asking the court to pass order for release of e-rickshaws which have been seized by police after court July 31 banned the plying of the vehicle in the national capital, holding them "a hazard to other traffic as well as citizens".

Police had impounded over 6,600 e-rickshaws plying of roads after the court's order.
