Ding, Liu to vie for women's singles gold

Top seed Ding Ning fought hard to reach the women's singles final at the World Table Tennis Championships here on Saturday.

Ding climbed out of a deep hole that saw her lose the sixth set 1-11, eventually beating teammate Mu Zi 9-11, 11-6, 12-10, 5-11, 11-6, 1-11, 11-6. Ding, the 2011 World Champion, will play against Liu Shiwen for the title, reports Xinhua.

Liu beat defending champion Li Xiaoxia 11-4, 8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8 in the other all-Chinese semifinal.
