The Indian equity markets provisionally closed on a flat-to-negative note on Thursday as disappointing macroeconomic data and a weak rupee eroded investors' risk-taking appetite.

The wider 51-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) inched lower by 6.80 points or 0.07 per cent at 9,614.45 points.
The S&P BSE Sensex, which opened at 31,117.09 points, provisionally closed at 31,133.17 points (at 3.30 p.m.). It lost 12.63 points or 0.04 per cent from the previous day's close at 31,145.80 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 31,213.12 points and a low of 31,062.02 during the intra-day trade.
