In order to make Delhi Transport Corporation self-reliant in maintaining its fleet of low-floor buses, manufacturers Ashok Leyland, TATA and JBM will train DTC Workshop employees, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said on Wednesday.

Gahlot was speaking after inaugurating a training programme at the DTC Headquarters here.

At present, DTC low-floor buses are maintained by the manufacturers.

The training will be arranged at the workshops of Ashok Leyland, TATA and JBM at Lucknow, Alwar and Kosi respectively.

The Minister said that, if necessary, training will be imparted to DTC staff in different parts of the country and even abroad to upgrade their skills.

In the first batch, 40 employees will undergo training. Subsequent batches of employees will be sent from time to time to the workshops of different manufacturers.
