Eight AMU students suspended after violence

Eight students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) were suspended on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in beating up some students that led to police being called, an official said.

The students have been accused of violence, opening fire and vitiating the atmosphere on the campus.

Pending inquiry into the matter, the students have also been barred from entering the university campus, including hostel and classes. Safe Kidwai, public relations office in-charge, said that the two B.Tech students, Manish and Imran Khan, had fought after which complaints were lodged.

The university has suspended Manish Kumar, Ajay Kumar Singh, Aman Sharma, Pawan Jadaun, Imran Khan, Abdul Maboob, Aadil Khan and Farhan Zubairi.

 

There is tension on the campus as sunders are protesting outside the varsity gate. Heavy police deployment has been made to ensure that there no untoward incident, an official said.
