Haryana Police Saturday announced that heavy vehicles, trucks and long-body trailers will not be allowed to enter Gurgaon in view of restrictions imposed on movement of heavy vehicles in Delhi for Republic Day.

"There will be no entry for heavy goods carrier vehicles in Gurgaon on national highway 8 (Delhi-Jaipur-Mumbai) from all neighbouring border areas.

"These include Jhajjar, Mewat, Faridabad, Alwar, Rewari and Palwal. The restriction will be from 10 p.m. on Jan 25 to 1.30 p.m. on Jan 26," a Haryana Police spokesperson said Saturday.

Security in and around Delhi has been put on maximum alert as US President Barack Obama will be the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations.

Thousands of heavy vehicles originate, criss-cross or arrive in Delhi every day.
