Ex-JD-U legislator arrested over minor girl's murder

Former JD-U legislator Suryadeo Singh has been arrested over a minor girl's death when he opened fire in Bihar's Rohtas district, police said on Monday.

According to a senior police officer, a land dispute prompted Singh and his supporters to open fire late on Sunday.

"Singh was arrested after villagers complained that it was he who opened fire which resulted in the killing of the girl and injured four others," the officer said.

The former legislator's wife and five others were also arrested.
