A huge explosion accompanied by a fire enveloped an Indian Navy submarine docked in the high security naval dockyard here early Wednesday, officials said.
The devastation took place shortly after midnight on INS Sindhurakshak submarine. Many sailors on board reportedly jumped off to safety, a defence ministry source said.
Casualties were not immediately known. The cause of the explosion and fire -- one day ahead of India's independence day -- was also not immediately clear.
