Fed up with drinking, guard commits suicide

A 56-year-old security guard committed suicide by drinking liquor laced with insecticide in northwest Delhi. Police said Sunday he was upset that his alcoholism was beyond control.

Vijay Pal was found dead in a vacant field near his house in northwest Delhi's Baba Haridas Nagar around 7.15 a.m. Sunday.

He was working with a private company in Dwarka as a security guard.

"A suicide note was recovered, in which he mentioned that he was ending his life because he was tired of his drinking habit," a police officer said.

Vijay Pal is survived by his wife and two children.
