Five killed in bomb attack in Baghdad

At least five people were killed and 32 others wounded in a car bomb attack in the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad Monday evening, a police source said.

A car bomb went off near a popular market in the Karrada district in central Baghdad Monday evening, leaving five people killed and 32 others wounded, and the toll could rise as ambulances and police vehicles evacuated the casualties to hospitals, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Iraq has been witnessing some of the worst violence in recent years. Terrorism and violence have killed 5,576 civilians in the first half of this year, with 11,666 more wounded, according to a recent UN report.
