Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday asked security forces to strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for crowd control and anti-militancy operations to avoid collateral damage.

She held a high-level meeting to review the overall situation in the Kashmir Valley where she impressed upon officers dealing with security to ensure that collateral damage was avoided, said an official statement.

Senior civil and police officers briefed the Chief Minister about the overall situation in the Valley, particularly after violence in Shopian district two days ago.

"Mehbooba Mufti enquired about the injured admitted in various hospitals and directed health authorities to ensure them specialised treatment so as to enable them restart their lives afresh."

Senior civil, police, intelligence, Army and paramilitary officials attended the meeting.
