There was a thrill in the audience when Bollywood hits like "Nimbooda" and "Dholi Tara" played during the show of Warda Prints, inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, at the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2016.
The hall, packed with designers, artists, business tycoons and journalists, was enthralled by the hits. Even Mika Singh's "Mast kalandar", a rendition of the popular traditional song, figured at the show.
Warda Prints' collection, which was titled 'The Story of Frida Kahlo', showcased Victorian and gothic accents in their alluring designs.
With designs influenced by Frida Kahlo, a Mexican painter known for self-portraits, her influence was apparent in the use of bright colours, dramatic symbolism and primitive style on cuts like palazzos, dresses and maxi gowns.
The colour palette comprised of feminine pastels for day wear to deep sultry plums and burgundy for a rich look.
