At least nine people were killed and 30 injured at a wedding reception in Cambodia when a man threw a grenade into the party, authorities said Sunday.

The incident took place in Kampong Thom province, 170 km north of Phnom Penh, Xinhua quoted Gen. Horm Thul, chief of the provincial military police, as saying.

"While people were enjoying and dancing at the wedding reception, an unidentified attacker threw the grenade into the ceremony," he said. "It exploded and killed nine people and injured 30."

Police suspect a love triangle behind the attack.

"It was not a terrorism act. We preliminarily concluded that love triangle motivated the attack," he said.
