Heavy showers lashed Agra Friday evening. People returning home from offices and shops were caught unawares and were searching for places to shield themselves from the rain.
"The showers started around 7 p.m. and are still continuing," said hotelier Surendra Sharma said an hour-and-a-half later.
"The downpour will damage the potato and mustard crop,," said Ravi Singh, a farmer of Barauli Aheer block.
The city experienced three spells of rain Thursday. "Since morning, the sky was overcast and we were anticipating rain any time. Looks like it will continue Saturday," said Shishir Bhagat of non-governmental organisation Wake Up Agra.
"The winter this year is having an extended run. Winter should have said farewell after Basant Panchami, but the chilly spell continues," said homemaker Padmini.
