Immigration checkpoints proposed in Lakshadweep

The home ministry has proposed to set up immigration checkposts at Agatti and Minicoy islands in Lakshadweep, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

The checkposts will grant immigration clearance to foreign cruises and tourists, Minister of State for Home Haribhai Chaudhary said.

These are likely to become functional by the end of the year, he said in a written reply.
