Indian equities open higher

A benchmark index for Indian equities, the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), on Thursday opened higher and was trading at 26,931.71 points some 25 minutes after the opening bell.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading higher at 8,152.15 points, with a gain of 44.25 points or 0.55 percent.

The 30-share Sensex opened at 26,931.88 points, against the previous close at 26,779.66 points. At 9.40 a.m., it was ruling at 26,931.71 points with a gain of 152.05 points or 0.57 percent.
