Indira Gandhi social awards presented

President Pranab Mukherjee Tuesday presented the Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme Awards for 2012-2013, a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement said.

The awards are given annually to universities, colleges and volunteers for social service programmes like tree plantation and blood donation.

Representatives of the University of Mangalore; department of higher education Kerala; Kumaon University, Nainital; Osmania University, Hyderabad; Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam; Mahatma Gandhi University, Koyttayam, and Mumbai University received the awards on behalf of their institutions.
