Italian Rizzoli to referee Atletico-Barcelona CL tie

Italian Nicola Rizzoli will referee Wednesday's second leg of the European Champions League quarter-finals between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona at the Vicente Calderon stadium, according to UEFA.

Rizzoli, who is also selected to referee the 2016 Euro in France this summer, refereed a game for Atletico Madrid in the group stage against Turkey's Galatasaray, where the Spanish team won 2-0 last November, reports Efe.

Rizzoli also took charge of Barcelona-Bayern Munich tie in the Champions League semi-finals last football season, when the Catalan club won 3-0.

Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

 

Dutch Bjorn Kuipers will referee Wednesday's second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals between Benfica and Bayern Munich in Lisbon.
