Jordan's King Abdullah II arrived in Pakistan on Thursday on a two-day state visit for talks on bilateral relations.

The Jordanian monarch was received at Nur Khan Airbase by President Mamnoon Hussain and a 21-gun salute was given in his honour, Geo News reported.

He was accompanied by Jordan's Foreign Minister and other civil and military officials. The visiting monarch was expected to hold meetings with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and the President.

Matters expected to be discussed include bilateral, regional and international issues and other matters pertaining to mutual interest.

"The visit will provide the two countries an opportunity to explore ways and means to further strengthen cooperation in diverse areas, particularly to expand bilateral trade and enhance investments in Pakistan," a statement by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.

King Abdullah II was earlier in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he met top officials including Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, WAM news agency reported.
