Kathua's District Magistrate Rohit Khajuria has been duped of Rs 50,000 after a fraudulent phone call, police said.

"On Thursday, between 2 p.m. and 2.23 p.m., DM Kathua received a call allegedly from a man claiming to be a bank official," a police source said.

"The caller told the DM that his ATM card should be linked with Aadhaar. Subsequently, the DM shared his ATM PIN with the caller, who later withdrew Rs 50,000 from his account," the source said.

An FIR has been registered and investigations are on to nab the culprit.
