US Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday began his visit to Djibouti, after his visit to Somalia.

Arriving at the airport, Kerry was welcomed by Djibouti's Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and later met representatives of civil society groups as well as religious leaders at the Salman Mosque, Djibouti's biggest mosque, in the presence of the country's Minister for Muslim Affairs Aden Hassan Aden, Xinhua news agency reported.

Kerry is the first US Secretary of State to make an official visit to Djibouti, a country that hosts the only US military base in Africa that is crucial in the fight against terrorism.
