The army said it apprehended a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Wednesday.

"Army today (Wednesday) morning apprehended one LeT terrorist from Drushpura forests, Handwara in Kupwara district," said defence spokesman, Lt. Col. N.N.Joshi.

He said a surveillance team of Rashtriya Rifles unit operating in the area found a man moving "under suspicious circumstances" and recovered a 9 mm pistol for him.

"On further investigation he revealed his identity to be Bilal Ahmed Nazar, resident of Chhan Mohalla, Badrahar (Kupwara) and led the team to recovery of an AK-47 rifle and other war-like stores," said Joshi, adding that the arrested man has been handed over to police in Handwara for further investigations.
