Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday hailed the central government's decision to demonetize Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, calling it a "cleanliness drive".
In a statement issued on Tuesday night after the demonetization was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chouhan said the process would help tackle terrorism, black money, corruption and clean up the Pakistan-distributed fake currency notes from the market.
He said the step taken in favour of the common man by the Modi government will provide a solid foundation to curbing the black money menace and corruption in the country.
Calling it an "unprecedented and historic" step by the Prime Minister, Chouhan said that it would accelerate the progress of the nation.
