West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday, warned against attempts at fomenting communal violence in the state.

"There is an attempt to disturb the communal amity that exists in Bengal. We will not allow that," Banerjee said addressing a public meeting in West Bengal's Bankura district.

"West Bengal is not the place for riots between Hindus and Muslims, Sikhs and Christians. People of all religions have mutually stayed here and it is going be that way," she asserted amid loud cheers from the people present in the meeting.

Banerjee, also the Trinamool Congress chief, urged the people not to entertain any individual or organisation that tries to perpetrate communal violence.
