Man dies after falling from train in Delhi

A man from Bihar slipped and fell to his death while trying to board an overcrowded train at New Delhi Railway station, police said Saturday.

"Ramesh Rai, a labour was going to his home town in Darbhanga to celebrate Chhath Puja. He was trying to board Samparkkranti Express around 1.30 p.m.," a police officer told IANS.

An eyewitness told police that Rai was trying to board the overcrowded train when his leg slipped into the gap between the train and platform. He died on the spot.

Police have informed his family in Bihar.

Police also said that they have appealed to the passengers to stay calm and not rush while boarding the trains.
