Man held for raping, killing minor in Bengal

A man was arrested Saturday in West Bengal's Burdwan district for raping and strangulating a minor, police said.

The crime took place Friday in Andal in the district some 180 km from Kolkata.

Accused Sandip Bin, a caretaker of a temple, raped the girl and later strangulated her.

"The victim, a Class 2 student, was loitering around the temple when Sandip Bin lured her inside. Prima facie evidence suggests he raped her and then strangulated her to death. We have arrested him," said an officer of the Andal police station.
