BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Saturday congratulated cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and scientist C.N.R. Rao for being awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour.
"Bharat Ratna for Sachin Tendulkar is a fitting tribute for his contribution to sports," Modi said on twitter.
He also wished scientist C.N.R. Rao on being conferred the honour.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Rajnath Singh said Sachin will always be remembered for taking cricket to glorious heights.
"Legends like him never retire as they live in the hearts of people," Singh said on twitter.
He added that scientists like C.N.R. Rao had made the country proud.
