Mumbai metal loft crash kills one

One person was killed when a portion of a metal loft crashed in suburban Mumbai's Kandivali on Friday, the BMC Disaster Control said.

The incident occurred around 12.30 p.m. when a part of the heavy metal loft in a ground plus one storied structure suddenly crashed down at Ganesh Chowk.

Witnesses said a couple of persons working there may have been trapped below the metal and rubble.

After nearly four hours of search, rescuers managed to extricate the body of a youth who succumbed in the crash. He has been identified as a 24-year old Sonam R. Yadav.
