The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) proposes to set up Garden Huts and a Fragrance Park as part of steps to further green the heart of Delhi.
The area ministered by the NDMC is reputed as the greenest municipal area in the country. The NDMC -- one of three civic agencies in the capital -- is determined to keep the record.
NDMC chairman Jalaj Shrivastava said different types of Garden Huts shall be created in various parks at Laxmi Bai Nagar and Sarojini Nagar in south Delhi. A Fragrance Park shall be developed at Laxmi Bai Nagar.
A Cactus House shall come up at the Lodhi Garden nursery, and 10 acupressure paths shall be laid in various parks at Sarojini Nagar, Malcha Marg and Jor Bagh, added Shrivastava in a statement Sunday.
Shrivastava said the School of Gardening - an NDMC initiative to enhance the knowledge and work efficiency in horticulture - has trained more than 2,700 field officers and staff.
He invited interested residents welfare associations, schools, eco-clubs and even the public to the training sessions.
The central verge and both sides of Shanti Path -- in Delhi's diplomatic enclave -- shall be beautified by different horticultural features.
A provision of Rs.75.52 crore has set aside for parks and gardens in 2014-15.
