Union Women and Child Development (WCD) Minister Maneka Gandhi on Friday said that on her request a special division has been set up by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for issues pertaining to women.

Gandhi was speaking at the 52nd SKOCH Summit where the WCD was conferred with the 'Best Performing Social Sector Ministry' award.

The Minister also highlighted the achievements of the Ministry in the last four years including six months maternity leave, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, SHe-box, one stop centres, universal women help line (181), 33 per cent reservation in police, among others.

"Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, flagship campaigns like 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' has achieved huge success within a very short period of time. Efforts were made at national, regional and local level which led to change in behaviour, reflecting in the improved sex ratio at birth," she said.

Gandhi also said that under Nirbhaya Fund, special forensic kits for cases related to rape will be provided to all police stations and hospitals.
