Pawan Dewan named general secretary of Punjab Congress

Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Friday appointed party's former Ludhiana district chief Pawan Dewan as Punjab unit general secretary.

"Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the appointment of Pawan Dewan as general secretary of PPCC (Punjab Pradesh Congress Commitee) and Chamkaur Singh Dhindsa as president of District Congress Committee, Ferozepur," Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said in statement.

Dewan, a confidante of PCC chief Amarinder Singh, was earlier removed by then state party chief Pratap Singh Bajwa.
