President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday condoled the loss of lives in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district on Saturday.
In a message to Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, Mukherjee said: "I am saddened to learn about the road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district in which a number of people lost their lives."
"I call upon the state government and other agencies to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families who have lost their near and dear ones," he said.
"Please convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased," the president added.
At least 19 people, including eight children, were killed when a speeding truck hit two tractor-trollies full of people.
The accident took place at National Highway 91 when the people were returning after attending a religious congregation in Puranv village.
