The West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department on Wednesday said it had seized a large quantity of psychotropic/habit-forming drugs, including methamphetamine, from Birbhum district.
"A CID team raided a house in Ilambazar this morning and seized 5,000 tablets of methamphetamine, and 66 bottles of a pain-killer drug," Deputy Inspector General (CID) Nishad Parvez said in a release. Houseowner Lalan could not be arrested.
The officer said it was the biggest seizure of methamphetamine by the CID in five years.
A case was registered at Ilambazar police station.
