Railways to launch cleanliness drive

The Indian Railways will undertake a major cleanliness drive at all important stations and in passenger trains across the country over the next two weeks.
In a statement, railway authorities said platforms, toilets, waiting and retiring rooms and other areas where there is passenger interaction would be covered under the campaign to be headed by zonal headquarters.
Even major passenger trains passing through the earmarked stations are also proposed to be cleaned thoroughly and divisional railway managers (DRMs) will check one station everyday for the next two weeks.
"The objective of this drive is to make a visible impact in the passenger areas on cleanliness," said the statement.
The cleanliness drive comes after the government recently directed that all ministry offices be cleaned and spruced up.
