The Supreme Court Tuesday issued notice to former army chief Gen (retd) V.K. Singh asking why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated against him for his remarks questioning the apex court's decision in his date of birth issue.
The apex court's special bench of Justice R.M. Lodha and Justice H.L. Gokhale issued notice to Gen V.K. Singh taking suo moto cognizance of his statement which appeared in a newspaper Sep 22.
The court has fixed the next date of hearing Oct 23.
