Sensex down 78 points; oil and gas stocks drop

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Tuesday was trading 77.89 points or 0.29 percent down as oil and gas stocks dipped.

Good buying was observed in healthcare sector; while selling pressure was seen in oil and gas, banking and auto sectors.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,854.90 points, was trading at 26,738.67 points (at 12.35 p.m.), down 77.89 points or 0.29 percent from the previous day's close at 26,816.56 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 26,861.29 points and a low of 26,735.12 points in the trade so far.

 

The S&P BSE healthcare index gained 94.66 points; while oil and gas index fell by 157.48 points, bankex dropped by 115.67 points and auto index slid by 68.27 points.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also was trading 27.85 points or 0.35 percent down at 8,014.15 points.
