Pakistan's economy is witnessing a turnaround with key indicators showing improvement, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday.

The operation against terrorism was also yielding positive results, Sharif said while talking to German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier here, Radio Pakistan reported.

Matters related to bilateral and regional interest with particular focus on peace and stability in the region were discussed in the meeting.

Sharif said he had already directed the concerned authorities to follow the mutually agreed areas of cooperation that were discussed during his visit to Germany last year, particularly bilateral trade and investment.

He thanked Germany for supporting Pakistan on the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) Plus status given by the European Union.

The German foreign minister said bilateral relations between the two countries are improving.

He said cooperation in the economic field and other sectors would further make the ties stronger between the two countries.
