Congress president Sonia Gandhi Sunday expressed shock over the death of 85 people in a temple stampede in Madhya Pradesh.
"Sonia Gandhi has expressed shock and deep anguish over the tragic incident," a Congress statement said.
"She has extended her condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and expressed the hope that the injured are being attended to suitably," it added.
