A 31-year-old man has been arrested for killing a young woman three years ago, police said Sunday.

Ram Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was arrested Saturday from Pushp Vihar in west Delhi where he went to meet a friend.

Police said that Kumar had a close relationship with the 26-year-old victim whose body was recovered from his rented accommodation in west Delhi's Vijay Vihar in December 2011.

Kumar, a science graduate, had come to Delhi in 2007 and started working as a medical representative with a private firm. Here he came in the girl and they developed a close relationship.

"After some time, Kumar started ignoring the victim as his marriage was fixed. The victim was not happy with this and the issue led frequent fights between them," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.

"The victim had visited Kumar's house Dec 4, 2011 morning. A little scuffle ensued between them over the issue and Kumar strangulated her. He then locked the room and fled away. Since then he was untraceable," he said.

According to Yadav, a bounty of Rs.50,000 was also declared on Kumar's head.
