Two school going siblings died on Wednesday in a bike accident here while their cousin was severely injured, police said.

"Ankit and Sanjana Jadav, both aged between 4-5 years, were travelling to school with their cousin Anurag Jadav on their father's bike when they were hit by a lorry from behind. None of the three kids was wearing helmets," an officer from Baranagar police station said, adding the accident occurred near Dunlop flyover in north suburban Kolkata at around 9 a.m.

"The siblings died on the spot because of severe head injuries while Anurag was admitted to SSKM hospital in Kolkata," he said.

"The father was wearing a helmet and hence suffered minor injuries. Police have detained the lorry driver," the officer added.
