Iranian Police arrested on Friday two suspects linked to the terror attacks in Tehran claimed by the Islamic State terrorist group.

The Wednesday attacks were directed at Iran's Parliament building and the mausoleum of the late revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini and left 17 dead and 52 wounded, reports Efe news.

The arrests were made in the town of Ravansar, in the western province of Kermanshah bordering Iraq, according to the semi-official Tasnim agency.

Also in Kermashah, security forces seized 92 firearms from a vehicle on Thursday night.

These operations took place after the National Security Ministry on Thursday published the identity of five of the suspects responsible for the Tehran attack.

Intelligence chief Mahmud Alavi reported that the extremists, all killed during the attacks, had fought in the ranks of IS in Iraq and Syria.

On Wednesday, five suspects were detained in the mausoleum but no further information has been provided about them, reports Efe.

The attacks were the first in Iran claimed by the Islamic State, which has repeatedly threatened Shias, the second largest branch of Islam, a majority in Iran.

The funerals of several of the victims were held on Friday in the Iranian capital in an official ceremony in Parliament and at the University of Tehran, where thousands of people gathered.
